🎾 Betting predictions for the 2025 US Open

So, whose odds are wrong? And who should you back for US Open glory? Here are our top-five bets for the 2025 action at Flushing Meadows.

Jannik Sinner to win the men’s singles

The reigning champion, who also holds both the Australian Open and Wimbledon crowns. He’s undoubtedly been the best player in the world over the past two years. Only Carlos Alcaraz has really been able to hold a flame to the Italian, whose consistency has been simply superb.

A controversial three-month drugs ban earlier this year failed to knock him out of his stride, and he’s looked as good as ever since returning in May. Chinks in the armour are few and far between, although illness did strike in Cincinnati recently, where he was forced to quit the final against Alcaraz.

Still, with a week to recover before this tournament, you’d imagine Sinner will be back to full fitness and ready for the defence of his title. He looks the one to beat.

➡ Back Sinner to win the tournament at 6/5 with Betfred

Ben Shelton each way in the men’s singles

Arrives at Flushing Meadows having recently won the biggest title of his career in Montreal. His winning streak was ended in the Cincinnati semi-finals, but that double is notoriously hard to complete with only two players this century having achieved the feat.

Has still gone 12-2 during the summer hardcourt swing. With his big, left-handed serve and thumping forehand, Shelton made the last four here two years ago, and the bubbly 22-year-old will be assured of fervent home support in New York. Looks to have a great chance of another deep run.

➡ Side with Shelton to claim US Open glory at 27/1 with SBK

Karen Khachanov each way in the men’s singles

Khachanov famously lost the US Open’s longest-ever match to Dan Evans 12 months ago, blowing a seemingly unassailable lead in the final set. However, it should also be remembered that the Russian reached the semi-finals of the 2022 US Open – and his current form suggests a repeat is a possibility.

Khachanov reached the final of the recent Toronto Masters, where he defeated Alex Zverev, among others. A back issue saw him retire from a rematch in Cincinnati, although he later admitted it was a precautionary measure with this tournament looming. If fully fit, Khachanov could go well at a big price.

Iga Swiatek to win the women’s singles

Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka is the bookies’ favourite for the US Open women’s title, but, given current form, it’s hard to be convinced. She was well below her best in Cincinnati, where she struggled through the early rounds before being felled by Elena Rybakina.

In contrast, Swiatek swept all before her to capture the title – the perfect preparation for another shot at the crown she won in 2022. The Pole went more than a year without a title, but her recent, unexpected Wimbledon success appears to have restored confidence, and she looks to have a great chance of adding a seventh Grand Slam title to her collection.

➡ Bet on Swiatek to win the US Open at 16/5 with BetMGM

Elena Rybakina to win the women’s singles

The former Wimbledon champion is a player with big weapons. She possesses one of the best serves in the women’s game, and her powerful groundstrokes can be a match for anyone on the WTA Tour.

She showed that when dismantling world number one Aryna Sabalenka in Cincinnati recently, before losing to the eventual champion, Iga Swiatek. Was also beaten by the eventual winner in both Montreal and Washington – on each occasion in a final-set tie-break – so hasn’t been far away from an excellent warm-up run.

Admittedly, losing a number of tight matches is something of a concern – as is a poor US Open record – but Rybakina looks primed to go well in New York this time around.

👉 How to bet on the US Open tennis tournament

Betting on a sporting event like the US Open has never been easier. While you can still place your bets in a traditional high-street betting shop, the majority of bets are now placed online, with your mobile phone a simple way of doing this. If you are starting from scratch, here’s our step-by-step guide on how to place a bet:

  1. If you don’t have an account with a certain bookmaker already, you will need to register/sign up – check out what some of the best bookmakers out there have and what they offer. Most have some kind of new customer offer, such as ‘bet £10, get £30 in free bets’. To sign up, visit the relevant bookmaker website or download their app. Once there, you will find a register/sign up/join button, which will begin the process.
  2. Now you will need to enter your personal details, such as name, address and date of birth. A choice of payment will also be required. That could be a bank transfer, debit card, etc. Some firms will ask for proof of ID, such as a copy of your passport or driving licence. Once you have completed the registration process and made a deposit into your account, you will be ready to proceed.
  3. To place your bet, you need to find the correct market. Use the menus to navigate the site/app. On desktop, the main menus are usually found down the left-hand side – in this case, you are looking for Tennis and then the US Open. On a phone or tablet, the menu may be ‘collapsed’ and accessed via the ‘burger’ button of three horizontal lines. Click on this button to see the menu options.
  4. Once you have found the relevant market and seen the odds, make your decision about what you are backing. You can then choose that selection, usually by clicking on the odds, although sometimes it will be the name of the selection.
  5. Having clicked on your selection, the betslip should appear somewhere on the screen – on desktop, it is usually on the right-hand side. This is where you choose how much you want to wager. Once you have input this information, the betslip usually shows your potential winnings. Double check your stake – you don’t want to bet £100 instead of £10! – before clicking the ‘place bet’ button (or its equivalent).
  6. Some sites give you an extra confirmation stage to perform that double check, but once you have clicked through this (if necessary), your bet will be placed and you can sit back and watch the action unfold! Some bookies even show matches via live streams!
