The ship is called Saga Farmann, and on Tuesday 26 August, it sailed up the Thames and under Tower Bridge.
It’s a modern reconstruction of a viking longship that dates back to the year 998 and is just is 20 metres long.
From today, the ship will dock at St Katharine Docks and be open to the public from this evening (27 August) until Sunday 7 September.
The only time it’s closed is on Thursday between 3pm and 5pm.
Otherwise it will be open to the public who are welcome to visit and learn more about the ship.
Its final days in London will coincide with the Classic Boat Festival, which will take place on September 6 and 7.
The ship will be the main attraction and will be among 50 other historic boats alongside Dunkirk Little Ships and Thames sailing barges.
The ships stop in the UK’s capital is just a small part of its journey as over the last few years, the ship has been retracing the Vikings’ old trade routes across Europe.
The crew first set sail in 2023 from Tønsberg in Norway and has so far travelled across the Aegean, Adriatic, and Black Seas.
The reconstructed ship has some modern adjustments – like motors[/caption]
The ship will dock at St Katharine Dock for just over a week[/caption]
Stops that the crew have made along the way include ports in Greece, Croatia, and Italy.
London is the final destination for the Saga Farmann crew.
The ship is as authentic as possible, it does have four electronic motors rather than relying on the crew to row.
And when the crew dock, rather than dragging the ship across the countryside by hand, as the Vikings did, they’ve used lorries to transport it.
For anyone wanting more Viking-themed attractions, Paultons Park is adding one to its park.
The attraction will be named Valgard – Realm of the Vikings and will be a viking-themed world with a village and its first inverting rollercoaster.
Drakon is set to become the park’s most thrilling ride with a vertical lift hill and two twists taking riders upside down.
There will also be Vild Swing that swirls riders 12 metres in the air, two brand new thrill rides, retheming of Cobra – a famous ride at Paultons Park, into a bobsled adventure.
The ride will be renamed Raven and will go hand-in-hand with the Viking village experience.
One Sun Writer also visited the European town with Viking food and boat rides through the ‘strongest tidal current in the world’.
For more boat themed attractions, one Sun Travel reporter visited the UK’s new immersive Titanic attraction.
