Baby boy found injured in water at park as cops launch urgent probe with teen, 17, arrested on suspicion of neglect

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a baby was found hurt in a body of water.

Lincolnshire Police found a 15-month-old baby in the water at Boultham Park in Lincoln city centre just before 9.30pm.

Police were called to the park and found the injured child

The baby had “minor injuries” and was taken to hospital.

Cops are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the area at the time.

A statement read: “We are appealing for eyewitnesses and information after a young child was discovered in the water at Boutham Park in Lincoln.

“Officers were called to the area at around 9.20pm on Thursday, 21 August where the child was discovered.

“The child sustained minor injuries and has been taken to hospital for checks.

“A teenager – a male – has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“A scene guard is in place in the area and investigations are taking place to determine the sequence of events that led to the child ending up in the water.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the park at the time, heard anything suspicious or saw or heard a baby. Any detail, no matter how small, could prove crucial.
