Big US bakery giant abruptly shutters 12 stores as it disappears from UK high street

A POPULAR US bakery chain has suddenly closed all of its sites in the UK.

Cinnabon opened its first UK store in 2020 and most recently had 12 stores in locations including London, Manchester and Birmingham.

But customers realised last week that several of the sites had abruptly shut without warning.

EG On the Move, which partnered with Cinnabon to bring the chain to the UK, told Metro it had decided to shut all the locations.

A spokesperson for EG On the Move told the paper: “EG On The Move has made the strategic decision to close all Cinnabon locations operated in the UK.

“This was not a decision taken lightly, but it reflects the strategic shift to focus on our core convenience retail business.

“This decision aligns with our wider business strategy to focus on areas where we can deliver the greatest value to our customers.”
