Cafe and bakery giant, Cinnabon, turned the lights out on two of its branches in the city of Newcastle this month.
Before its doors first opened in August 2023, the Tyneside Cinnabon saw queues of people stretching back towards Grey’s Monument.
A notice was then stuck up on the window of the site on Monday that stated it would shut with immediate effect.
The sign read: “We regret to inform you that Cinnabon will be closing its operations on Monday, September 1.
“On behalf of our entire team, we sincerely thank you for your loyalty and continued support over the years.
“It has been a pleasure serving you.”
The flagship Newcastle café in Tyneside had seating for up to 30 people, as well as in-house bakery where the sweets treats could be freshly made at the store.
It took over the vacant premises of the Patiserrie Valerie, which went into administration in 2019.
Cinnabon in the Trafford Centre was also confirmed to have shut down after first opening in March last year.
A handwritten “closed” sign was place in the window of the Deansgate store and with lights turned off during the advertised opening hours.
The highly anticipated chain attracted attention after photos and videos of people eating the buns were shared all over social media.
Not just the classic cinnamon bun with cream cheese frosting was sold, but also extravagant flavours like the Lotus Biscoff Bon classic.
Cinnabon’s UK website now appears to be down, just loading an error code.
Geordies will now have to venture further to get their Cinnabon fixes following the two site’s closures.
The popular American chain first came to the UK in January 2021, and now has 11 locations across the UK.
There were, however, 22 sites in 2023 as Cinnabon has seen a string of closures of the past couple of years.
