CORONATION Street might be in hot water with the media regulator over a recent episode.
Ofcom received 55 complaints about the ITV soap for the episode that aired on August 29, but it is not yet clear what the specific grievances were.
Coronation Street has seen a string of affairs begin[/caption]
Including between Jamie and Carl[/caption]
It might spell heartbreak for Abi who is also having an affair with Carl[/caption]
The action-packed episode saw the beginning of a new affair, that might lead to heartbreak for Abi Webster.
The mechanic is married to Kevin, but is having a passionate affair with Carl’s brother Kevin.
But when Abi and Kevin head off on a family holiday, Carl’s head was turned and he ended up in bed with Corrie footballer, James Bailey.
James, who recently split from partner Danny, and Carl have a great time together and agreed to see each other again.
Scenes in the episode show the two men topless, as Carl parades around in nothing but a towel, and James is sitting without a shirt on in bed after their romp.
Jonathan Howard, who plays Carl, said: “Carl likes living life on the edge, he is a hedonist and a free spirit, he is attracted to a person regardless of their gender and if he sees something he wants he goes for it with no real thought to the consequences of his actions.
“He is frustrated that Abi has gone away with Kevin and he needs something to distract himself.
“There is a spark between him and James so he goes for it.
“Tracy was also offering herself to him but he isn’t stupid and he knows that would be a dangerous move, James on the other hand is less complicated and more fun.”
Carl debuted on the cobbles earlier this year – after being mentioned over the years.
The Ofcom complaints after Monday’s episode, is not the first time Corrie has been threatened with a review by the media regulator.
Fans were not happy over scenes they deemed “inappropriate” and were “too violent.”
In July, Corrie bid farewell to killer villain Mick Michaelis in a shocking storyline.
Killer Mick broke out of prison, intent on taking revenge on police officer and his former best mate Kit Green.
He beat Kit up, leaving him fighting for his life in hospital.
And then while hunting his children down in an attempt to flee, he threatened Sally Metcalfe as she tried to talk him down.
People were not happy with the threatening scenes and took to social media to complain, saying they would escalate their grievances with Ofcom.
