Crystal Palace make ambitious £15m transfer bid as two-time Premier League winner, 30, is lined up as Guehi replacement

The Eagles have also lost star player Eberechi Eze following a £67.5million deal with Arsenal and are facing the prospect of selling another key player in Marc Guehi.

However, SunSport understand Oliver Glasner’s side are planning a major swoop before the summer market ends on September 1.

Palace have made an offer for Manchester City star Manuel Akanji.

Sources have told SunSport the FA Cup winners have offered £15million for Akanji, 30.

Palace’s official offer to City also includes bonuses.

The centre-back amassed a total of two assists in 40 appearances last season during a rough campaign for Man City who just managed to finish third.

That added to the Switzerland international’s total of five goals and three assists in 136 appearances since joining the Citizens from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

Akanji, who’s won two Premier League titles during his three-year stint with the Manchester giants, could be lined up as a potential replacement for Guehi, 25, who is being targeted by Liverpool, Tottenham and Barcelona.

Sunsport have previously exclusively reported the England international was willing to run down his contract until 2026 if he didn’t get his preferred move.

And Palace chairman Steve Parish has already said Guehi would be sold unless he was willing to sign a new contract.

This comes after City boss Pep Guardiola was forced to leave Akanji and Ilkay Gundogan out of his squad for Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham at the Etihad.
