NINE months after emergency brain surgery, Davina is feeling blessed to soon be celebrating the 15th anniversary of one of her best-loved shows, Long Lost Family.
She has fronted the heartwarming ITV series, which traces lost relatives, since 2011 with Nicky Campbell.
And Davina reveals that the families she’s helped were among the first to reach out after her operation to remove a tumour in November.
She says: “When I had my operation, so many people from Long Lost Family messaged me and said, I hope you’re OK or get well soon or stuff like that.
“I’ve got hundreds of telephone numbers in my phone and they say like, ‘Sophie, Long Last Family’.
“At Christmas, I get so many messages from people. And if they meet up with their family, they send me pictures, or if they’re struggling a little bit, they might send me a message and I might try and help.”
The show remains one of the projects Davina is proudest of.
She adds: “I mean, 15 years. So many people come up to me and say, ‘This is the show that I absolutely love’.
“And I think it’s because it’s wonderful to see good things happen to people who have been searching or waiting for such a long time.
“I watch people who have carried a burden almost their whole lives.”
