Raducanu, 22, has been romantically linked with the world No2 while they have been at the US Open.

Alcaraz showed off his new trim as he sailed through his first round match with American Reilly Opelka on the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The 2025 Wimbledon finalist won the tie 6-4 7-5 6-4 to book his spot in the next round.

After the game, he admitted that the haircut was a case of misunderstanding between himself and his brother.

The tennis ace’s new look was slammed by pal Frances Tiafoe, who called it “horrible”.

However, he does have at least one fan of his buzzcut in Raducanu.

The Brit claimed that Alacaraz “owns” the look and insisted that it will not affect him on the court.

She said: “I think he owns it.

“I think he pulls it off and if you own a haircut like that, then it can work.

“But whatever he does, it’s not going to affect what he does on the court.

“I’m just happy to see him having fun.”

Raducanu is into the third round herself after completing wins over Ena Shibahara and Janice Tjen.

She beat Tjen on Wednesday 6-2 6-1 in a comprehensive victory at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.

She will now take on Kazakhstani ace Elena Rybakina in the next stage.

Raducanu has been spotted supporting Alcaraz throughout the summer, including at Wimbledon.

This has sparked romance rumours between the couple.

This was then fuelled after they were seen joking together, arriving at the venue within minutes of each other.

However, Raducanu has previously insisted that they are just “good friends”
