BURBERRY’S back-to-school range will cost parents £2,700 — compared with just £67 in Asda.
The upmarket fashion brand, which has just signed Chelsea ace Cole Palmer as a model, has launched pricey togs for next week’s new term.
And mums and dads will need a footballer’s pay packet to buy them — with a pencil case in Burberry’s famous check costing £210.
A full kit, including hat, coat, polo shirt, trousers, socks, sneakers, backpack and pencil case, is £2,700.
A trench coat for kids aged 3-14 is £1,050, and parents are told: “Inspired by our heritage styles, a trench coat in shower-resistant cotton gabardine.
“Inside is Burberry Check cotton, used to line our coats since the 1920s.”
Parents could spend just £67 a child at Asda, where two pairs of trousers cost £8, skirts are £7, and shoes start from £11.
Exasperated mum-of-two Jo Willock, of Slough, Berks, said: “I’d need to remortgage our home to send my kids back to school in Burberry.”
High-end style site Fashion Network said: “Burberry is taking childrenswear from the playground to the classroom in style with its Winter 2025 campaign.
“With Burberry, this means mini iterations of its house codes alongside playful new prints.
“Of course, the extremely well-known Burberry Check adds expression to the school uniform, from quilted jackets and corduroy trousers to cashmere scarves and practical backpacks.”
