From gut goodies to brain boosters – we test healthy shots

WHEN we think of shots, it is often alcohol but now there are all sorts on offer promising to boost your health.

They deliver concentrated vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in a quick, convenient dose.

These little bottles range from immunity boosters to gut health, while others are good for your brain and for kids.

I’ve put three to the test. . .

Goodie can boost mood and sleep and help with medical conditions[/caption]

GOODIE is a super- concentrated fermented drink packed with 96 strains of live bacteria.

Not only is it good for gut health, bloating and indigestion, it can boost mood and sleep, and help with conditions like acne.

Many drinks are pasteurised to extend shelf life but these aren’t as the heat kills off live probiotics, enzymes and other vital nutrients.

I tried blackcurrant and it fizzed out of the bottle – this stuff really is alive!

Mix it with water, juice and smoothies.

Brain

The Brain Shot contains 20 ‘super’ ingredients
Supplied

RUGBY legend Jonny Wilkinson’s wellness firm, One Living, has just launched an exciting new range of targeted health shots.

There’s an energy booster, one for gut health, beauty and immunity, but my favourite was the Brain Shot which contains 20 “super” ingredients.

The lovely cherry and apple flavour is packed full of lion’s mane mushrooms, which is great for cognitive function and memory, plus ashwagandha, a shrub thought to reduce stress and anxiety.

It’s also full of vitamin D, B vitamins, magnesium and zinc and it’s designed to promote mental clarity and reduce fatigue.

All natural, nothing nasty added. Available via the One Living website and at Tesco.

Plenish has launched some brilliant wellness shots for kids[/caption]

PLENISH has launched some brilliant wellness shots for kids aged four to 11 – a first of its kind.

The shots come in two flavours, berry and mango, and are specially formulated with 100 per cent of a child’s daily recommended intake of vitamin D for bone health and vitamin C to support their immune system, plus zinc and added iron to aid cognitive development.

I tried the berry one, which tasted sweet, but that is purely from the fruit – apple, strawberry, pineapple and beetroot.

They stay fresh for up to eight hours outside of the fridge so are a great option for lunch boxes, too.

A 100ml serving contains 137 calories, 0.2g fat and 6.8g of sugar. There are no added sugars or preservatives.

£5 for 4 x 60ml shots, plenishdrinks.com
