A HIKER suddenly collapsed and died in front of walkers who rushed to help on a popular mountain trail.
A person went into cardiac arrest while climbing down Tryfan in Eyri (Snowdonia) National Park on Saturday.
The hiker – who has not been named – collapsed near the Llyn Bochlwyd lake in the Glyderau mountain range.
Mountain rescue volunteers rushed to the scene.
A spokesperson said: “Despite the efforts of the team and other walkers, the casualty didn’t survive, and they were recovered from the mountain.
“The thoughts of all involved are with the casualty’s family and friends.”
