IF you are ready to upgrade your tech, don’t throw away any of your old items.
Instead, you can trade in gadgets and get cash, vouchers or discounts on new items.
How to trade in your gadgets for cash, vouchers or discounts on a new phone or TV[/caption]
Here is what’s available . . .
TV: If you are looking to upgrade your TV, you can get a discount on a new model by trading in.
From now until September 23, you can hand in your old TV at Currys and receive between £50 and £250 off a new model priced over £649. The old gadgets are then sent to Currys’ recycling centre.
PHONE: Many of us change handsets every couple of years. There are a few different mobile phone-buying companies that will give you cash for your old model.
You can use a comparison site to find out which firm will give you the most money. Try sellmymobile.com or compare mymobile.com.
If you find a price you are happy with, selling the phone through one of these companies is relatively easy.
APPLE: Any old Apple items including, watches, iPads and Macs can be traded in with Apple to get cash off a new device. Just remember to wipe your data before handing over gadgets.
You can do it online or in an Apple store. However, it’s worth looking at other companies, which may pay more for the tech.
OTHER ITEMS: You can get cash for other gadgets, notably old gaming consoles including Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation. It’s worth getting a couple of different quotes to find who will give you the highest amount.
CeX offers cash or vouchers for a wide range of tech items. There are branches across the UK where you can take them in for an estimate or you can get one online at uk.webuy.com/sell.
Currys give an online estimate for tech and you’ll get an e-gift card in exchange.
And it’s also worth looking at Music Magpie, where you can sell anything from iPads to books and DVDs.
Get an estimate at musicmagpie.co.uk.
