Huw Edwards STILL can’t sell his home after almost a year on the market despite knocking £750k off asking price

SHAMED journalist Huw Edwards is struggling to sell his home after almost a year on the market.

Edwards left the BBC on “medical grounds” three months before he was charged with having indecent images of children.

Last week The Sun revealed that BBC had failed to recoup Edwards’ £200,000 salary a year.

And now we can reveal that Edwards has knocked £750k off the asking price for his property.

The disgraced broadcaster’s home plush six-bedroom pad in a leafy part of London was listed for sale in October 2024.

It was initially on the market for £4.75m and then reduced to £4.5m in March, before Edwards knocked off another £500k in June.

But the property has still not sold two months on from when he last dropped the price for a second time.

Now the South West London home that he shared with his now-estranged wife, Vicky Flind, and their five children, is on the market for £4m.

In March it was revealed that the property had been given a “discreet listing” after estate agents were flooded with crank inquiries when it was placed on search engine Rightmove.

Now details are only available to potential vendors contacting  London-based firm Pedder directly and they will be subject to a barrage of questions about their ability to pursue a sale before being sent a brochure or put forward to view the pad.

A source revealed: “The house has generated a lot of interest but not from the right people. The listing is now in discreet mode to root out the time-wasters, cranks and voyeurs.”

The former BBC star bought the property, located in one of the area’s most desirable roads, in 2006 for just under £2m and, according to public records, the house no longer has a mortgage attached to it – meaning the place will generate a healthy profit for the couple when sold.

Edwards, 63, who is thought to be living in a flat in Wandsworth, was one of the BBC’s top stars and was paid a salary of £475,000 before being arrested and narrowly escaping jail over child sex abuse images.

The neutrally decorated home, which was built in the mid-century, extends to more than 4,000 square feet.

A London-based firm said of the home after listing it for sale: “The property has been tastefully renovated and extended by the current owners.”

In the main sitting room, there is a grand piano, while the chic kitchen has recently been re-fitted by the owners.

It comes after BBC executives formally requested last August that former newsreader Edwards return wages he received after his arrest on paedophile charges.

After a Sun probe, using freedom of information laws, the broadcaster said: “Huw Edwards has not returned any money paid to him by the BBC after his arrest, in respect of any of his work for either BBC public service or the BBC’s commercial operations.

“The BBC has asked for all the money paid to Huw Edwards by the BBC for the period November 2023 (arrest) and April 2024 (resignation) to be returned.”

A BBC insider said: “Everyone is raging about it — firstly at Huw, who is a disgrace, secondly that gutless bosses seem unwilling or unable to do anything about it.”

The mum who blew the whistle on Edwards after he paid her son £35,000 for sexual pictures in a separate case exposed by The Sun previously told us: “Does this man not have an ounce of shame?

“How can he keep this money after what he’s done?”
