A WOMAN has revealed that she finally got a council house so he can turn into a home.
Rianne, from Newcastle, took to social media to share her new council house, but it seemed she had her work cut out for her.

The house was big but had lots of work needed doing to it[/caption]
She took a video showing off the new home, and while it was massive, it did come with its own set of problems.
The house had two large bedrooms with a dining room, front room, two bathrooms and an outhouse and giant garden.
She added: “We were quite lucky because houses in our area of a two bedroom nature don’t normally come with a dining room or an outhouse and all of the storage that we have.”
But the house had lots of work that had to be done before it could be lived in.
She said the house had recently been rewired meaning both the floors and walls had been striped down to nothing.
The bathroom and kitchen were also both in the middle of being updated.
Rianne added: “Upon looking at the wallpaper, it’s clear to see that a lot of the walls are gonna need some work.
“I’m a bit scared about taking the wallpaper off because some of the walls are crumbling, but we’ll just take that day by day and see how it goes.”
“So what do you think? Would you take a house that needs this much work?” she asked.
In the comments, Rianne claimed that despite a considerable amount of work needs to be done, the council had offered her just £100 in decorating vouchers.
“We have been so lucky to get this house and will be forever grateful, but the workload we have taken on is overwhelming,” Rianne added.
The clip went viral on her TikTok account @riannetyneside with over 100k views and 1,900 likes.
People were quick to take to the comments to share their thoughts, with many agreeing the size of the house and garden alone made the work worth it.
One person wrote: “I find it shocking that councils are allowed to hand homes over without making sure they are in decent condition.”
Another commented: “Yes it’s a lovely house. Nice shape and spacious. Garden is massive.”
How to do your council house up on the cheap
- Take inspiration from pricier shops and head to B&M, Home Bargains for interior decorations.
- Head to YouTube for easy to follow tutorials on how to decorate rather than paying for professionals.
- For a quick glow-up for your floors or anywhere with tiles, opt for stick-on vinyl to save on costs.
- A lick of paint does wonders to make a room feel brand-new.
- Switch out kitchen cupboard knobs for modern ones instead of buying brand-new cupboards
“Apart from the work needed to make it your own, what a lovely council house, looks spacious and new kitchen/bathroom,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “I know it will be a lot of work but do it! The backyard alone is awesome.”
“Absolutely take it. Put your own style on it. Houses like this are rare. Lovely size garden too,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “Yes 100%. It will always look bad before it gets better and you will make it home.”
