The 33-year-old’s stint saw him doing several Bushtucker Trials, before becoming the second star to be eliminated.

Dean has revealed police are investigating after cruel trolls sent him terrifying messages.

Speaking to Daily Star Sunday, he shared: “When I came out of the jungle, I started getting so many death threats.

“People tell me they wish I’d got AIDS and died or that if they see me in the street they’re going to batter me.

People were saying they were to come to my work at the BBC and my house. It hurt. It was really heavy stuff.”

Subsequently, Dean reported these threats to Greater Manchester Police, who have since launched an investigation.

He continued by saying details have “been passed to police forces across the UK”, with some of the trolls now identified.

Dean said: “There are 35 different accounts that were classed as having malicious contact and 12 of them were aggravated malicious contact, which is basically a death threat. They’re being identified.”

The radio DJ admitted he “had to hide for a bit” after receiving the nasty comments.

Elsewhere, Dean recently revealed some of his I’m A Celeb cohort are to reunite for a rival show.

The Radio 1 DJ said: “A few of us have just been away filming a TV show which is coming out at the end of the year.

“It’s a really exciting one actually and it’ll be on around when the jungle’s on.

“A bit of a camp reunion . . .  and it is camp, I’m doing it!”

His jungle co-stars included Coleen Rooney, Oti Mabuse, Alan Halsall and winner Danny Jones.

Earlier this year, Dean told The Sun how he could have starred in another ITV reality show.

He shared: “They asked me to do Big Brother last year for the first one, and I’m such a big fan of the show. I just don’t think that I’d be able to relax and enjoy it.

“Because I’d be too busy thinking about things, whereas, at least in the jungle, I’ve got no idea how to survive in a jungle.

“I mean, they asked. You know the way they float the idea past. Would you be up for? And I met with them, and we had a discussion about it, but it just didn’t happen.”
