Retail business at JLR is reported to have been badly hit, but customer data is believed to have not been compromised or stolen.
The attack began on Saturday, as a time that is traditionally popular for vehicles being sold.
The latest batch of new registration plates also became available yesterday, Monday, September 1.
It is understood that the attack was detected while in progress, so IT systems were shut down by the company to minimise potential damage.
Workers at the plant in Merseyside were emailed early on Monday morning not to come into work, with others sent home.
