JET2 is cutting its winter flight programme resulting in around a thousand flights being cancelled.
The budget airline has revealed it has trimmed the number of seats for this coming winter season by 200,000 amid a “difficult market”.

In a statement, the airline said it would be reducing the seats on sale this winter from 5.8million to 5.6million.
The most common plane used by Jet2 is the Boeing 737-800 which has 189 seats per aircraft.
So, with 200,000 seats being scrapped, this would mean around 1,000 flights will be cancelled.
However, this is still an increase of nine per cent on winter 2024/2025.
Steve Heapy, Jet2 chief executive commented: “Although we are currently operating in a difficult market, we have a proven business model, a loyal customer base, a flexible approach to capacity management and of course our multi award-winning customer service.
“We believe that these factors provide the foundation for a solid financial result this year and for further profitable growth in the years to come.”
Other stats that were revealed included Jet2’s holiday package passengers which grew by two per cent – but this was still down from the eight per cent growth of last year.
In flight-only passenger numbers flights increased by 17 per cent.
Their airline added that for winter it still hopes to “maintain attractive pricing to ensure our customers are able to get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing holiday”.
The cancelled flights and routes are yet to be announced by the airline.

On Jet2’s website, it’s still selling flights to winter sun destinations like Faro, Costa del Sol, Fuerteventura, Cyprus and Turkey.
The airline is also heading to ski destinations like Geneva, Salzburg and Chambery.
One of Jet2’s most recently announced winter routes is to the city of Krakow in Poland.
The new route is set to connect London Stansted to Krakow for the first time.
The flights are set to run from November 27 to December 21, the flights will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Holiday packages can be found for as little as £270 each, which includes flights, hotels and luggage.
Krakow is one of the cheapest cities in Europe, according to TravelSupermarket‘s first Cheap Holiday Index Platform (CHIPS) earlier this year.
During the winter, it has a popular Christmas market called Rynek Główny Market.
