THE SUN

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager, 62, was relieved of his duties by Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce after just over 14 months in charge.

Jose Mourinho next club odds

Betfair odds

  • West Ham – 15/8
  • Nottingham Forest 10/3
  • Rangers – 5/1
  • Leeds – 17/2
  • Burnley – 9/1
  • Fulham – 10/1
  • Man Utd – 16/1

His exit comes 36 hours after the club were dumped out of the Champions League play-offs against Benfica.

Mourinho’s time in Istanbul was short but fiery, with regular digs at referees and clashes with rival clubs.

In February, Galatasaray threatened to launch criminal proceedings against the ex-Chelsea and Man Utd boss, accusing him of making racist remarks after a bad-tempered 0-0 draw.

Jose Mourinho firmly denied the claims and fired back with a lawsuit of his own, demanding around £41,000 in damages.

Now a free agent, Jose isn’t short of options – and has perhaps dropped a few clues about where he might go next.

The two-time Champions League winner recently admitted he never plans to retire and revealed a desire to manage a club “at the bottom of the table in England”, so he does not have to play in UEFA competitions.

That might be why West Ham have stormed to the front of the betting, priced at 15/8 with Betfair.

We’re only three games into the 2025–26 campaign, but current boss Graham Potter is already under huge pressure to turn things around at the London Stadium after back-to-back Premier League defeats and a collapse against Wolves in the Carabao Cup.

Mourinho owns a home in London and often bases himself in the capital between jobs.

Nottingham Forest are next at 10/3 amid ongoing volatility at the City Ground, where tensions persist between manager Nuno Espirito Santo and owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Rangers are third favourites at 5/1, with boss Russell Martin also in the firing line after a nightmare start in Scotland.

The Gers were hammered 6-0 by Club Brugge, crashing out of the Champions League 9-1 on aggregate – and they already trail Celtic by six points in the league.

Leeds follow at 17/2, ahead of Burnley (9/1), Fulham (10/1), and even Mourinho’s old club Manchester United at 16/1 – who he led to their last European trophy in 2017.

Betfair spokesperson James Mackie said: “Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce tenure came to an end this week after they failed to qualify for the Champions League league phase. With Rangers having suffered the same fate, Russell Martin is under pressure at Ibrox and Mourinho is 5/1 to take the role there.

“However, with Mourinho’s ties to London and Graham Potter’s winless start to the season as West Ham boss, the Hammers are 15/8 favourites to appoint the 62-year-old. Fulham are another potential destination at 10/1, with a dramatic Man United return priced at 16/1.”
