ON Monday night, as Alex Reid shocked the world by dropping a bombshell leaked video of his ex Katie Price, friends and family of the glamour icon braced themselves for her explosive reaction.
But those in Katie’s inner circle tell The Sun they were shocked by her private response to the latest in what they see as a string of attacks from angry exes with an axe to grind.

A friend explains: “We’re all really surprised by how calm she has been, as Alex’s latest stunt would send most people into a very dark place.
“This isn’t the first time Kate’s ex husbands and partners have ganged up on her, but the last time it happened, it drove her over the edge and we were all seriously worried about her. This time around though, she is in a completely different place.”
In fact, behind closed doors, Katie has made her stance crystal clear to her nearest and dearest.
“Her feeling is, if Alex Reid wants to create a drama to get himself some attention, then good for him,” the pal explains, before admitting that Katie WAS taken by surprise when Alex dropped the explosive video, purportedly recorded in 2020, showing her counting wads of cash in front of daughter Princess while bankrupt.
‘You can’t silence the Pricey’
“She was blindsided by Alex dropping the clip, she had no idea it was coming, but she is refusing to stoop to his level by coming out all guns blazing as she has in the past,” the friend shares.
“That’s what the old Katie would have done, but this time around Katie is in no rush to publicly comment on this latest attempt to bring her down.
You can’t silence or keep Pricey down for long, but now is not the time for her to have her say.
A source close to Katie
“Instead she is doing the sensible thing, she has taken legal advice and is biding her time. She is aware that Alex has threatened to say more about her in the coming days and weeks, but she has been here before many times and is taking it in her stride.
“Katie will have her say at some point, you can’t silence or keep the Pricey down for long, but now is not the time.”
Indeed, Katie will release her latest podcast episode with her sister Sophie tomorrow (Thursday August 21), and while the world will be listening closely for her to drop some bombs of her own, we’re told she actually doesn’t mention Alex once.
“She recorded this week’s upcoming episode on Monday, before Alex dropped the video, but even if she had known about the video then, she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of talking about him publicly at the moment.”
That said, while Katie may not be taking any public shots at Alex at this time, but she hasn’t minced her words about him in private.
In fact, in true feisty Pricey style, she’s enjoyed making some jibes about Alex’s more unsavory moments from their short-lived romance.

The insider reveals: “Katie has told her friends that does not feel the need to respond to a man who was injecting himself with Harvey’s drugs when they were together.
“It’s a classic Pricey burn, but at the end of the day, Alex admitted it himself and Katie is still disgusted by the whole thing. Alex insisted it was accidental, but she’s always had her doubts and now Alex has come for her again, she’s got a few digs in to her mates about that whole incident.”

In 2013, two years after the end of his turbulent marriage to Katie, Alex admitted to using Harvey’s hormone medication, Genotoprin, which is used to treat growth disorders in children.
Alex insisted he mistook it for his own medication, which was prescribed to treat an injury.
“It was an error on my part that I didn’t check the label properly. I never expected Kate to place Harvey’s meds next to mine. On the face of it, they both looked identical,” he said at the time.

However, Katie’s team were adamant that they were not to blame.
Her rep said in a statement at the time: ‘Katie and her family have been dealing with Harvey’s illnesses his whole life. They don’t allow a situation to exist where his medicine could be contaminated by or confused with any drugs belonging to any third party.”
Indeed, a pal of Katie’s adds today: “Katie still thinks it’s outrageous that he tried to suggest it was her fault he ended up taking Harvey’s meds. If you are going to admit to something, don’t blame someone else. She believes the men in her life blame her for everything.”
Of course, Alex isn’t the only ex Katie has had to bear the wrath of this week.
Peter Vs Katie
Peter Andre kickstarted a week Katie would rather forget last Thursday night, with a bombshell statement in which he alleged Junior and Princess had been in his care since 2018 ‘for their safety.’
The following night, Katie hit back with a cryptic statement of her own, where she talked about ‘saints and sinners’ in this messy feud.
While she didn’t mention Pete by name, she admitted she had been a ‘sinner’ who had made mistakes, but claimed there were ‘fake’ saints who ‘played the victim’ and ‘needed a villain’ to succeed in life.

“As far as she is concerned, Pete is desperate to portray himself as something he is not. But Kate is confident Saint Peter’s mask will always slip.”
Indeed in recent months several old clips from Katie and Peter’s old ITV2 reality shows have been doing the rounds on TikTok, which Katie fans claim show Pete putting her down.

In one he refers to her as a “slut” while talking about her alter ego Jordan, while in others he makes fun of her bedroom skills and points out that she has spots on her face.
Pete forgets everything was caught on film and he was emotionally abusive to Kate for years.

Peter’s camp have claimed the resurfaced videos are heavily edited with certain lines removed and insist they have bee taken out of context, but those close to Katie refute this.
“Peter forgets that everything was caught in film and he was emotionally abusive to Kate for years – it’s desperate to claim he only looks bad because of editing.
“After all the filming was heavily controlled by Pete’s management and the producer, who was his manager Claire Powell’s ex-partner, Neville Hendricks.”
Courting trouble
In 2015, Hendricks sued ITV after his company’s contract to produce reality TV shows centred around Peter, as well as Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona, was cancelled in 2011 following his split from Claire.
Peter gave testimony in which he claimed he feared for his family’s safety after Hendricks made ‘death threats’ towards former partner Powell, who still manages Andre to this day – but judge Mr Justice Flaux said he ‘completely disbelieved’ Peter’s evidence.
And Katie’s pals still cite this when discussing their pal and Pete’s relationship.
“The High Court found that Peter was not an honest witness and made false claims ‘designed to show himself in a good light’,” a friend points out.
