LAURA Woods has opened up about “very awful times” with fiance Adam Collard after she suffered a miscarriage.
The heartbreaking loss happened just months before Adam took part in the brutal Channel 4 series Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The sports presenter said she’s experienced ‘confusing feelings’ following the loss[/caption]
Adam, 29, was left in floods of tears on the show as he spoke about losing his unborn baby in emotional scenes.
And now Laura, 38, has opened up on the grief she has experienced during once of the hardest times of her life.
She posted a clip of Adam from the show on Instagram today and wrote: “We really had some very awful times last year, but this big, beautiful man has got me through every one of them.
“And I’ve been so very proud watching him on this.”
The sports presenter said she’s experienced “confusing feelings”, but said said baby Leo has helped her find comfort.
She shared a post which read: “Sometimes I look at Leo and I think of the baby we’ll never meet, while also knowing we wouldn’t have Leo without it happening.
‘It’s a very confusing feeling.
“When it happened a wonderful nurse in the hospital said to me – this little one wasn’t meant for this world, so this process is its way of keeping you safe.
“And that really did fill me with a lot of comfort.
“So I thought I’d share that in case there’s anyone reading that has been affected by miscarriage too. Lots of love.”
It comes after Adam revealed how he almost backed out of participating on Celeb SAS after a difficult few months.
Speaking to the Special Forces staff on the show, an emotional Adam explained how he was diagnosed with depression.
He struggled to get his words out before saying: “One of them was with my partner…and…we, erm lost something…when it was really close to getting there a second time and telling everyone.”
As the tears fell, the staff clarified that he was talking about a miscarriage and Adam nodded.
He added: “I think I was proud of the fact that I was excited for it, which I didn’t think I ever would be.
What is miscarriage and why do pregnancies fail?
MISCARRIAGE is generally the death of an unborn baby in the first 24 weeks – approximately six months – of pregnancy.
Miscarriages may not be spoken about a lot but they are very common. Baby loss charity Tommy’s estimates there are at least 250,000 per year in the UK and that one in every five pregnancies ends in miscarriage.
It may not be clear why a miscarriage happens but they are rarely caused by anything done by the mother or father. Usually the embryo has a random genetic defect that means it cannot develop properly.
Most women can go on to successfully have healthy babies in the future.
The NHS says most miscarriages cannot be prevented but avoiding smoking, alcohol and drugs while pregnant can reduce the risk.
Some of the other most common reasons for a pregnancy to fail in the first 24 weeks are ectopic pregnancy and molar pregnancy.
Ectopic pregnancy is where a fertilised egg implants somewhere outside of the womb, usually in a fallopian tube. It cannot survive and grow there so either dies naturally or must be terminated.
Molar pregnancy is rarer but happens when a fertilised egg and/or placenta does not develop properly at the start of a pregnancy. There is no single reason why it happens and cannot be prevented, though it may be more common in very young or old mothers.
A baby who dies after 24 weeks is considered a stillbirth.

“And when it got taken away, and it was 10 times worse for her, I think it hit us like a tonne of bricks.
“We just really, really went to a bit of a bad place. And to be honest, in front of her I pretended I was cool, and pretended I was absolutely fine.”
Later in the episode, Adam broke down in tears as the celebrities were tasked with reading out their ‘death letters’, which they were asked to write to their loved ones.
As Adam stood up to read his out, he paid tribute to Laura and how much he was thinking of her, before saying: “The last few months have been really tough, but nowhere near as tough as you.
Adam continued: “We lost a baby recently” but then started to sob.
The Love Island star recently said he blamed his bad boy past for the miscarriage, admitting he felt it was “bad karma” for his unsavoury behaviour on the ITV2 dating show.
He explained: “I know it’s a terrible way to look at it, but I felt like it was bad karma for me being on dating shows and upsetting too many people.
“I felt like that was some high power’s way of being like, ‘Well, there you go, that’s what you have to carry’.
“So it was a lot and I’ve worked on it now, but before SAS, I didn’t get a chance. It was so soon.”
Personal trainer Adam began dating Laura, who fronted the recent Women’s Euros coverage, in October 2023 and they got engaged last September.
Adam was once a major lothario, appearing on Love Island in 2018 and again in 2022, when he was brought back as a bombshell.
Despite their baby heartbreak, the couple – who got together in 2023 and became engaged in September last year – welcomed son Leo in January this year.
