Legendary BBC sitcom to get stage show sequel based on three OUTRAGEOUS episodes after ‘un-woke’ debut was huge success

THE unwoke Fawlty Towers stage show — which revived a sketch featuring a goose-stepping Basil Fawlty and mentioning the war to Germans — has been such a hit that it is getting a sequel.

The next production being planned by series creator John Cleese could threaten to trigger even more snowflakes as it will be inspired by three more episodes from the 1970s BBC sitcom.

Fawlty Towers: The Play debuted in London’s West End last year and its story was made up from three episodes — which included “The Germans” — a controversial episode hotel boss Basil impersonates Adolf Hitler to German guests.

Cleese, 81, has now revealed he plans to put a story together.

It will include the episode “The Psychiatrist” — where hotel boss Basil accidentally gropes a female guest’s boob while reaching for a light switch.

The other episodes are “The Kipper and the Corpse” — where the hotel staff try and hide a dead body — and Basil the Rat — where waiter Manuel’s pet rat escapes.

John Cleese said: “In the West End, we took favourites such as Mrs Richards, The Germans and The Food Inspectors and put those together to make the show.

“But it has been so successful that I said ‘Let’s put together three other shows’.

“There is no reason we cannot do it again but we wouldn’t want to have it on at the same time so maybe in a year and a half’s time?”

Cleese has discussed wokery previously, saying: “What annoys me is how some people think they have invented kindness.”

Adding: “Much of my comedy is about teasing people with affection.”
