He is close to leaving Old Trafford on a season-long loan deal to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

And on the pitch he has not covered himself in glory, with his latest blunder coming for his national team.

Cape Verde’s winner came just after half-time with Dailon Livramento firing past a hapless Onana.

The forward picked up the ball in his own half before driving to the Cameroon box, yet Onana failed to come out.

Instead the keeper backed off and was stood virtually on his goalline as Livramento struck the ball, giving the United star no hope of making a save.

Fans questioned Onana’s technique with one saying: “Onana stayed on his goal line, to make the goal as big as possible for the Cape Verde player 😭

Another added: “I’m not a professional GK coach or anything but shouldn’t Onana be coming out to face the 1v1?😭

A third wrote: “He made the goal larger for the player to score 😭

And another commented: “A normal keeper would come out to reduce the angle of shot for the player.

“But there’s Onana, standing like it’s a penalty shoot 😂

Onana’s latest error follows after he cost his side two goals against Grimsby. and he does not appear to be learning from his mistakes.

Early on in his United career he similarly backed off and failed to sprint out to close down Taiwo Awoniyi, who slotted past him for Nottingham Forest.

On that occasion Onana pulled off a bizarre jumping technique that led to fans joking he had “levitated”.
