Love Island’s most bitter break-ups from split that scrapped spin off show to Lochan and Whitney’s court battle

LOVE Island has brought us many new couples over the years but many of those relationships have ended in flames.

The ITV2 dating show might be where sexy singletons go to find love, but most have ended up with more heartbreak after leaving the Spanish villa.

The end of some Love Island couples’ has led to headlines for all the wrong reasons, while for others it has thwarted hopes for more TV stardom.

Let’s take a look back at some of the most dramatic Love Island break-ups.

The break-up between Whitney and Lochan is now going to be played out in the courts[/caption]

This pair found love in 2023, but things got very messy between the pair and will even play out in court.

Lochan, 25, is taking 27-year-old Whitney to court for claiming he used a racial slur against her and referred to her skin as “dirty” during their relationship.

He also took to his social media to say that Whitney was “not the victim here.”

Lochan said: “I’ve not called you once since the break-up. And your sister is your manager so yes I’ve called your family because you put up a post about me that is a lie.”

After it was revealed that Lochan is taking Whitney to court, she took to social media to double down on her claims – and even accused his mum of making racial comments.

The case – dubbed ‘Love Island‘s Wagatha Christie’ – is expected to get underway in the coming weeks.

Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes

Things got so bad between Olivia and Chris they couldn’t stand to be around each other[/caption]

While each has found love again, her with footaller Bradley Dack and him with fellow reality TV darling JoJo Siwa, this couple lost a lucrative series deal after their split.

Olivia and the Celebrity Big Brother alum starred on the third season of Love Island in 2017 and were set to have TV cameras follow their relationship once they’d returned home to the UK.

Called  Crackin’ On, it was meant to be a six-episode series released in 2018, but was chopped down to a three-parter because of how much the couple argued in front of the camera.

The show was further thrown into chaos after filming when the couple called quits on their relationship and refused to be around each other causing a headache for the press tour.

Ekin-Su Cülcüloglu and Davide Sanclimenti

ITV

Ekin-Su and Davide were one of the most popular couples from Love Island[/caption]

This couple was wildly popular when they rose to fame on series eight of Love Island in 2022, from his hilarious quips, to Ekin-Su‘s viral crawl across the outdoor terace.

But things ended very badly, with Davide even claiming he went off the rails to “numb the pain” after his alleged toxic relationship.

They may have won their season in 2022 and became overnight sensations, but they lost out in the love department and were plagued by rumors of cheating.

The pair decided to call it quits in 2023 before briefly reconciling.

They broke up again, for the final time, in January 2024 with Ekin-Su breaking the news on Instagram.

Ekin-Su previously told how Davide’s “endless deceit” led to the end of their 18-month relationship.

The Italian heart-throb was accused of cheating with model Harriet Wilson in March 2023.

However, Davide — who is still friends with Harriet and her partner — denies the allegations and says he actually dumped her after rumors she’d cheated on him.

Gabby Allen and Marcel Sommerville

Gabby and Marcel were forced to cross paths again on All Stars 2[/caption]

This couple was a fan-favourite in 2017 before making the shocking announcement that they had split just a year after the show.

But Gabby was left devastated when she’d learned Marcel had allegedly cheated on her while they were on holiday together.

Gabby learned of the affair when the other woman showed her incriminating messages from Marcel where he even suggested meeting her for some “day sex” as Gabby worked out in the hotel gym.

But the former couple were forced to reunite as they both starred on the second series of Love Island: All Stars earlier this year.

Gabby won the series when she coupled-up with Casey O’Gorman, but they split just weeks after leaving South African villa.

Marcel initially had coupled-up with season nine beauty, Olivia Hawkins, but was eventually dumped on just day 10 of All Stars.

Scott Thomas and Kady McDermott

Scott and Kady were described as having an ‘explosive’ relationship

The love story of the series two stars took a dark turn when Scott was accused of assaulting Kady.

Police were called to Scott and Kady’s home in June 2017 after an explosive row and he was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Scott was later released without charge and the incident was not further investigated, but did spell the beginning of the end of their tumultuous relationship.

Sources the time told The Sun that the row kicked off when Kady was furious that Scott had come home inebriated, but it was nothing more than a “drunken row” that was blown out of proportion.

The couple rekindled their romance, only to call it quits for good in December that year.

Both stars returned to the Love Island franchise, Kady in 2023 as a bombshell and Scott competed on All Stars 2 earlier this year.

Luis Morrison and Cally Jane Beech

ITV

Luis and Cally have traded insults on social media even years after their breakup[/caption]

They may have split in 2018, but they were still trading barbs on social media in 2025.

Luis returned to screens in the Love Island All Stars villa last year, much to Cally’s dismay and she took to social media to hint at her thoughts.

But Luis wasted no shot in returning fire and even took aim at his other ex-girlfriend, Chloe Elizabeth, saying they were both “embarrassing” for their comments.

Cally dated Luis for three years before they revealed that they had split for good in 2018.

Right after his “proud dad” claim during his debut VT on All Stars, Cally posted to her social media the ‘thinking’ and ‘lying face’ emojis.

Chloe also shared a snap with their son Romeo, writing in her caption, “An actual Proud parent xxxx.”

She has claimed that Luis hasn’t paid thousands of pounds of owed child support since July 2023.
