Littler, 18, delivered one scorching finish with two tops and admitted he hopes for a cooler stage temperature on Sunday.
He said: “It felt pretty hot. As soon as I stepped on the first step I was like ‘wow this is hot’.
“I started off really well. As the game went on I started to drop a bit, going below the treble.
“I thought Cammy [Menzies] was going to get into it. But I’m just glad to get over the line.
“Last year was unreal. I went 110, 116, 110 (averages) and then I lost to Luke (Humphries). But I felt pretty good.
Littler now faces Gian Van Veen in the third round and added: “We always have a brilliant game, I think we’re both playing our best darts at the minute.
“But for myself it’s just another game and hopefully it’s not too hot!”
Luke Humphries beat Dirk Van Duijvenbode 6-4 but admitted it wasn’t a good show.

“Not great, I didn’t play good, not used to them performances to be honest, but they seem to be happening a lot more often.”
