A POPULAR long-haul winter sun destination is about to be even harder to get to.
Air India’s flights from London Gatwick to Goa are no longer available, with a number of passengers saying their already-booked flights have been cancelled.

On the Air India website, the only flights available between Gatwick and Goa are now indirect.
And bookings that already stand now have layovers at the likes of Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi.
The airline first suspended the Goa service weeks after Flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick crashed on June 12, 2025.
The direct route was expected to be suspended throughout the summer but resume in October – however this doesn’t appear to be the case.
Sun Travel has approached Air India for comment.
Goa has become increasingly popular, because of its beautiful and warm temperatures throughout the winter months.
The state on the southern coast of India stays between 25C and 30C all year round.
Some of the most popular beaches are Calangute and Baga in North Goa, and Palolem and Agonda in South Goa.
Alongside relaxation, there are plenty of attractions to explore too like the Anjuna flea market, where visitors can explore hundreds of stalls.
There’s also Dudhsagar Falls which is a multi-tiered waterfall that plunges into a cool pool – visitors can explore these with a guide and take a swim in the water at the end.

There’s fish in the water and plenty of animals that surround the falls in the jungle from macaques as well as the rarer deer, panthers and even tigers.
Of course going to India means trying lots of authentic dishes, and Goa has its own unique cuisine.
It’s Indian dishes have Portuguese influence, due to more than 400 years of Portuguese rule.
Popular meals are fish curries and seafood, and Xacuti and balchāo are among the destination’s favourite dishes.
Brits can still get to Goa with direct flights from the UK with TUI.
It’s now the only company offering direct flights between London Gatwick and Goa.
Bookable flights on TUI‘s website are available between November 2025 and March 2026.
