The Met confirmed that a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm.

It is understood that the suspect was on his way to a comic convention in London.

Officers said they received “information about a boy displaying a weapon and walking towards a crowded area.”

In dramatic footage posted to social media a squad of uniformed cops were seen wrestling the suspect on the floor.

The teen was held down and placed in handcuffs by the group of cops who went on to search him.

Officers held the boy face down on the concrete slabs outside the station.

Other cops maintained a cordon around the arrest area as bewildered Chelsea fans passed by the terrifying scene.

The group of arresting officers can be seen in footage searching through the suspect’s bags as others held him down on the ground.

The suspect looked to be wearing a balaclava covering everything but his eyes.

One of the arresting officers removes the mask from the teen’s face as others hold him down, kneeling on his legs and back.

The squad of cops then appear to turn the youth over onto his back as they make to stand him up and haul him off.

Nobody was hurt in the terrifying incident that unfolded just moments after the Chelsea vs Fulham game.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “A 16-year-old boy remains in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm.

“The arrest occurred in Fulham Broadway at 14:41hrs on Saturday, 30 August after officers received information about a boy displaying a weapon and walking towards a crowded area.

“No one was injured in the incident.”

The incident unfolded just moments after Chelsea  controversially beat London rivals Fulham.

Enzo Maresca’s side scooped a 2-0 victory after a VAR check saw a Fulham goal disallowed.
