My neighbour’s ‘hideous’ extension has ruined my view… it’s like a spaceship has landed next door & now he can spy on me

A FURIOUS homeowner has revealed that his neighbour’s “hideous” extension has totally ruined his view.

Not only does it look like a spaceship has landed next door, but now, his next-door-neighbour can spy on him too.

Sharing all on the situation, the homeowner described the renovation project as looking “out of place”[/caption]

Eager to share his frustration with others, the anonymous man who writes on social media under the username @brettman1990, took to Reddit to open up on the situation, leaving many totally stunned.

Alongside pictures of the back of his neighbour’s home before and after the “huge” extension, the fuming man wrote on the r/DIYUK thread: “My neighbour around July last year started an extension by first knocking down an existing flat roof extension and it’s now nearly finished by the looks of it.”

Not keen on the look of his neighbour’s renovation, he asked: “Is there anything anyone can think of so I don’t have to see it besides moving house?

“I was thinking some sort of high hedge or trees but isn’t there a 2m high rule?”

Infuriated by the eyesore, he continued: “To me it just looks like a spaceship landed next door and attached itself to the 1930’s semi and left its hatch doors open.

“It looks so out of place and in your face.”

The man later wrote: “I didn’t think it would look as overwhelming as it does if I’m honest.”

And not only is he unhappy with the appearance of the extension, but he also highlighted his concerns over his privacy too.

“I know he has a view of half my garden and it has a microphone in it too.

“He can watch and listen to half our garden,” he shared.

But if that wasn’t bad enough, he also added: “Can’t walk in my garden without its floodlight feature triggering and illuminating our garden.”

Reddit users react

Reddit users were left gobsmacked by the neighbour’s “awful” extension and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this.

The Top Five Reasons Neighbours Squabble

One study by Compare the Market revealed the top reason British neighbour’s argue

  1. Broken fences – top of the board was broken fences and whose responsibility it was to fix it
  2. Parking: one of the leading drivers of neighbour disputes, with 54.1 per cent of people having issues with people parking in front of their house, parking bay or driveway
  3. Trees – complaints about a neighbour’s tree cracking your garden path was also common with nearly half of participants finding it frustrating
  4. Bin wars – outdoor bin etiquette continues to ignite the most furious debates between neighbours
  5. Nosy Neighbours – some people have their eyes and ears at the ready to have a peek causing problems for others

A third commented: “That’s a shambles. Shocking.”

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in: “Just looks so wrong.”

At the same time, one user simply slammed: “Looks awful.”
