New threat of Prince Harry’s visa documents being made public as critics bid to uncover drug use ‘lies’

PRINCE Harry is facing renewed scrutiny of his controversial US visa application after the Trump administration turned up more than 1,000 documents on his file.

And some of the information could now be made public.

Court records show 1,007 papers on the Duke of Sussex were found at the US Department of State, which handles visa applications.

They include 217 records from the Office of the Secretary of State — equivalent to our Foreign Secretary.

Filings also show there are 517 “potentially responsive records” from the Bureau of Consular Affairs, 271 from the Office of the Legal Advisor and two from the Office of the Deputy Secretary of State.

They will now be reviewed with a judge in Washington to determine what should be made public.

It comes after right-wing US think-tank Heritage Foundation sued the Department of State in January after previously taking action against the US Department of Homeland Security.

That lawsuit led to the release of dozens of files but none revealed Harry’s visa status or if he lied in his application.

Heritage claims in the fresh court filings that he may have fibbed about drug taking, while publicly admitting using cocaine and marijuana in his memoir, Spare.

Its lawyer Samuel Dewey said the number of papers on Harry “shows they are monitoring him pretty closely”.

He said: “I think we’re going to see documents from Harry talking about the case, but other material may be withheld.

“Then it will be up to politicians whether that decision is overruled.”

The lawsuits have led to speculation Donald Trump could deport Harry, who left the UK for the US with American wife Meghan in 2020.

The Department of State would not comment.

Harry’s team was contacted.
