Nottingham Forest next manager odds: Ange Postecoglou hot favourite to replace Nuno Espirito Santo

ANGE POSTECOGLOU is the leading frontrunner to become Nottingham Forest’s next manager.

The latest odds from Betfair have the former Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur gaffer as the 1/2 market leader to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who was brutally axed last night.

Betfair odds

  • Ange Postecoglou 2/5
  • Jose Mourinho 5/1
  • Marco Silva 9/1
  • Oliver Glasner 14/1
  • Andoni Iraola 16/1
  • Mauricio Pochettino 16/1

Despite leading the club to European football last term, Nuno was given the chop after rising tensions between himself and owner Evangelos Marinakis.

That despite last season’s success and the 51-year-old only penning a new three-year deal to stay at the City Ground on June 21.

Speaking earlier on in the campaign on his relationship with Marinakis, Nuno said: “I always had a very good relationship with the owner – last season we were very close and spoke on a daily basis.

“This season it is not so well, but I always believe that dialogue is important because my concern is the squad and the season we have ahead of us. Our relationship has changed and we are not as close.”

The 3-0 defeat to toiling West Ham before the international break appears to be the straw that broke the camel’s back and Nuno was sacked by the Greek.

Postecoglou – also born in Greece – has been out of work since he too was brutally sacked following success, having guided Tottenham to a major European trophy.

Big Ange has been lined up for a number of jobs across the continent but it’s understood he’s awaiting another crack at the Premier League.

He leads the betting with Betfair at 2/5, with fellow out-of-work boss Jose Mourinho the next best at 5/1.

Mourinho was shown the door by Turkish side Fenerbahce at the end of last month.

Fulham boss Marco Silva is 9/1, ahead of Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner at 14/1.

Andoni Iraola and Mauricio Pochettino round off the betting with the pair both 16/1 shots.
