Princess Diana’s hairdresser slams ‘evil and nasty’ trolls slamming Kate’s new blonde hair

PRINCESS Diana’s former hairdresser has slammed “evil and nasty” trolls who have criticised Princess Kate’s new blonde hair.

The Princess of Wales showed off the new look late last month as she joined a Balmoral church service with William and their children.

Yesterday, she returned to royal duties after the couple’s summer break, once again showcasing the new hairstyle on a visit to the Natural History Museum.

However, social media trolls have criticised Kate’s long blonde do, saying it does not suit her.

Coming to her defence, Princess Diana’s former hairdresser Sam McKnight, 70, posted on Instagram saying he was “shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted by all the nasty comments” about Kate.

Sam, who has also worked with the likes of Kate Moss and Lady Gaga, said: “A woman’s hair is very personal to her. It’s armor, defence, confidence and so much more.”

The professional added: “I cannot believe how evil and lacking in any kind of empathy are the comments, the majority made apparently by other women, attacking a vulnerable other young woman, who has no choice, by dint of who she married and the role she took on, to bravely face the public.

“I’m sure she would rather be away from the public arena. She has brilliantly and quietly, unselfishly represented our country, the soft power we still have as a nation.”

Sam also highlighted Kate’s journey after her cancer diagnosis – which she bravely shared with the public last year – saying: “Cancer affects individuals differently, but is life changing for everyone.

“So FFS leave her alone. Shame on you.”

Sam worked with Diana for seven years, including on trips abroad to visit Mother Teresa in India as well as refugee camps on the Afghan border.

Recounting his experiences to Vogue in 2022, he said he’d “never experienced anything like that before”.

This comes after Kate appeared with Wills on a trip to the Natural History Museum yesterday for their first engagement since their summer break.

Arriving at the London venue, Kate – Patron of the Natural History Museum – sported her brighter, blonder hair cut.

Upon arrival, she said to Dr Sandy Knapp: “Sorry it’s been such a long time for me to come back.”

She posed for photos on the steps to the museum before greeting visitors queuing up to get inside.

Kate even gave one over-eager youngster a high-five.

They were set to join primary schoolkids taking part in “pond dipping” searching for newts and toads at the Nature Discovery Garden.

But seconds after arriving, the children from Kender Primary School, south London, were soaked by a massive and sudden downpour.

Kate and William shared their umbrellas before calling off the outside activity.

They then ushered the children into the dry at the nearby Nature Activity Centre.

The princess led several children while Wills helped control the rear as the youngsters splashed in puddles as they tried to keep out the rain.

Beverley Brown, 44, assistant headteacher at Kender Primary School, said: “The children were very excited.

“We had been waiting for the session to start and as we started to move it started to pour and we didn’t know what to do.

Prince William gallantly held an umbrella over an adult and children.

“Princess Kate was in amongst us and said ‘let them go in’ and ‘lets take them inside, it’s pouring.’”
