AS temperatures fall, many households will soon spot the familiar problem of droplets of water running down the inside of their windows.
Condensation occurs when warm, moist air hits a cold surface, and while it may seem harmless, it can quickly lead to damp, mould, and even long-term health issues.
Aldi is releasing a new buy that will help reduce condensation and keep your home warm[/caption]
Now Aldi shoppers have found a simple solution for just £3.99 and it promises to do more than keep your home warm.
The supermarket is selling self-adhesive window film, which can be cut to size and applied in minutes.
It is available in three designs including ice, striped and opaque.
The film doesn’t just improve privacy, it also reduces glare, blocks harmful UV rays and helps to insulate your windows.
The insulating layer means glass stays warmer, which in turn helps cut down condensation while keeping more heat inside.
For households battling rising energy bills, that could make a noticeable difference as the nights draw in.
How to install
Fitting the film is straightforward.
Simply clean the glass, measure and cut to size, peel back the sheet and smooth it into place with a cloth or squeegee.
Because the design is adhesive-free, it can also be removed or reused without leaving residue behind.
Aldi’s window film is available in stores from Thursday September 11, but only while stocks last.
Shoppers can use the store locator on Aldi’s website to find their nearest branch.
It comes as the supermarket also prepares to restock another winter essential.
The Unibond Aero 360° moisture absorber refills will also hit shelves on September 11, priced at £5.49 for a two-pack.
Each tab lasts around three months, helping to tackle excess moisture and prevent musty smells for less than £1 a month.
With mould and condensation season just around the corner, these budget-friendly buys could save homes from costly damage and keep them feeling snug all winter long.
Both items are part of Aldi’s Specialbuys, which means they are only available for a limited time.
Aldi launches fresh Specialbuys every Thursday and Sunday.
What is condensation?
Condensation is water droplets that form on a window when moist air comes into contact with a cold surface.
Condensation occurs when:
Air cools
Warmer air can hold more moisture than cooler air. When moist air touches a cold surface, like a window, the water vapour in the air turns into liquid water droplets.
Windows are colder than walls
Windows are often colder than insulated walls, so condensation is more likely to occur on them.
Windows are poorly insulated
Poorly insulated windows can lead to condensation, especially if they are made of aluminium, which conducts heat quickly. If left untreated, it can lead to mould and other serious problems.
