AFTER one of the hottest summers on record, temperatures are finally set to plummet this week.
This means the long-awaited shift from sweltering heat to cooler, crisp days is upon us.
And with the change in season comes the perfect excuse for a wardrobe refresh.
We’ve turned to our favourite supermarket fashion brands, who are, thankfully, ahead of the curve and have already unveiled their very first autumn drops.
Our fashion editors have hand-picked their favourite pieces, from cosy knitwear to versatile layers and transitional pieces that will carry you into winter – and they’re not holding back on style or affordability.

The supermarkets are a great place to nab an on-trend piece to add to your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
As we hit the new season, our beloved supermarkets have started to drop their new-season ranges.
And they’re not to be missed.
Jacket, £75, M&S Collection at Marks & Spencer[/caption]
The selection of jackets at M&S is one of the strongest this season, and this barn-style waxed jacket is sure to fly off the shelves.
The wax look means it’s waterproof, which is great for the autumn rain, and with a contrasting cord collar, you will be bang on trend.
Jeans, £20, Nutmeg at Morrisons[/caption]
Nutmeg may have be one of the smaller supermarket fashion ranges, but the A/W range is definitely great quality.
These wide-leg jeans are just £20 and look a lot more premium than the price tag suggests.
Ballet flats, £17, Tu Clothing[/caption]
Cow print has been one of 2025’s biggest unexpected trends, and it’s not going anywhere any time soon.
If you want to hop on board without wearing the print head to toe, these ballet flats are the perfect option.
Two-piece knitwear set, £13, F&F at Tesco[/caption]
Knits upon knits is how we should be wearing our tops this season, and F&F at Tesco has you covered with this two-in-one set.
For just £13, you can get your hands on a cute cami and cardigan combo.
Skirt, £18, George at Asda[/caption]
Meanwhile, checks are a foolproof print for autumn, and George at Asda has that box well and truly ticked.
Wear this checked midi-skirt with a blazer and ballet flats before swapping for a jumper and boots as the weather gets chillier.

Every time I browse the supermarket fashion aisles, I’m always so impressed by the selection.
I feel like the stores just get better and better with each new drop.
I love the high street, but prices seem to be increasing rapidly, so it’s nice to see that you can still get affordable pieces that are also bang on trend while shopping for your weekly groceries!
Jacket, £35, George at Asda[/caption]
This jacket is all of my favourite things combined – I’m a sucker for a leopard-print jacket, especially a quilted one.
If you missed out on the leopard-print puffer coat from George that went viral last year, this is a great alternative, as it’s a brilliant layering piece and surprisingly thick.
For £35, you really can’t go wrong.
Scarf, £10, Tu Clothing[/caption]
I’ve been on the lookout for a new scarf for when the weather really turns, but I can never make a call on which colour or print to go for.
When I saw this blue one, for £10 from Tu Clothing at Sainsbury’s, I actaully gasped – as this shade of blue is going to be huge this season.
Knit, £29.50, F&F at Tesco[/caption]
This brown chunky knit from F&F at Tesco is a great dupe for the Zara cardigans that were everywhere last year, but costs half the price.
The gold button detail and chunkiness of the knit make it look really luxe and expensive.
Bag, £89, Autograph at Marks & Spencer[/caption]
If you want to get on board wihth the cow-print trend, this M&S bag is a great piece to choose.
It’s a little on the pricier side, but in true M&S style, it’s well-made and will last you years.
Plus, it’s big enough for all your essentials.
Jumper, £16, Nutmeg at Morrisons[/caption]
Finally, this cosy knit from Nutmeg at Morrisons is a great wardrobe staple that will go with just about anything – from jeans to a skirt or even layered over a dress.
It’s a real winner!
