THIS is the jaw-dropping moment a huge street fight broke out between British tourists and Turkish shopkeepers at a popular holiday hotspot.
What began as a minor dispute in Alanya on September 1 quickly exploded into a brutal street brawl, with tourists and shopkeepers throwing fists in chaotic scenes.
The dramatic street fight, which started outside a boutique on Ataturk street, left several people injured and forced the business to shut down.
According to local reports, a conversation between the British tourists and the shop keeper quickly turned violent.
Six British tourists surrounded the shop keeper and started to head butt him before violently punching and kicking him.
CCTV footage from the scene shows the shopkeeper sitting on the steps when the tourists are initially surrounding him and raising voices.
Within seconds, the shopkeeper is punched and kicked to the ground and other traders are rushing in to help.
As the other merchants on the street intervene, matters worsen and the altercation expands into a larger street fight.
Just as the outburst calms down and the two groups break away from each other, one group suddenly increases their rage and the clash reignites.
The conflict is made worse when the British tourists reportedly pick up sticks and stones from the roadside and throw them at the shop keepers.
The traders are seen defending themselves with umbrellas and makeshift shields.
Cars continued to casually drive past the scenes as tempers heightened.
Eventually, rage reached peak intensity and the outnumbered British tourists fled to a nearby hotel to seek refuge.
Both sides were reported to have sustained injuries from the fight as security cameras captured the extreme moment unfolding in the Mediterranean resort.
Police units were dispatched to the location for back-up following a tip-off.
Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the incident.
Footage of the fight has circulated across social media, however there are still no explanations for the massive outbreak.
Civil officials sealed the shop for three days as inquiries continue.
The incident took place in Antalya’s Alanya district which has been a very popular hotspot for tourists attracting millions of visitors specifically from Britain and other European countries.
It comes after British tourists were filmed in June being brutally beaten and stamped on by two bouncers at a popular Turkish restaurant in Marmaris, Turkey.
The melee came after a row reportedly erupted over an unpaid bill and alleged insults against Turkey‘s national flag.
