She later hosted Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 – until it was axed in 2023.
Taking to Instagram, Steph shared that she would be hosting two BBC programmes.
She wrote: “Big work news. I can’t tell you the specifics yet. But it involves hosting 3 shows all out in the next 12 months…
“1) A brand new series on BBC One daytime (Not a magazine/chat show).
“2) A brand series on BBC Two evenings (Still not a magazine/chat show).
“3) A longstanding TV programme that’s been going nearly as long as I have been alive.”
She added: “I AM ABSOLUTELY BUZZING!!!”
One follower commented: “Exciting! I miss packed lunch every week.”
Another added: “This is brilliant news Steph I’m happy to watch you in any capacity.
“Well done to you about time we had a decent female presenter on tv.”
A third penned: “Really missed seeing you on the telly box! Can’t wait to see your new shows! Congrats.”
While a fourth remarked: “So pleased for you, you deserve it!”
Steph’s Packed Lunch’s loyal viewers were deeply moved when its last episode aired in December 2023.
One fan took to X/Twitter and wrote: “This was like channel 4’s version of This Morning BUT BETTER, totally wrong to axe it, a hugely popular show, shame on u Channel4.”
Another added: “No way was that the last #StephsPackedLunch EVER?!!
“It was the best UK daytime show, why would they axe it?!! It was always fun to watch and there were some great discussions on there.”
A source said at the time: “This decision has come totally out of the blue; Steph’s Packed Lunch has been going from strength to strength, and has an incredibly loyal fanbase.
“It feels like Channel 4 are shooting themselves in the foot with this one – citing the need to do less live programming in order to go toe to toe with Netflix et al. It’s nonsense.
“Channel 4 is supposed to be a public service broadcaster, offering viewing something a bit different, and pushing boundaries.
“And to axe a regional-based show seems like yet another cronyism move by an out-of-touch bunch of north London-luvvie execs.”
