The 10% rule that can get you a £900 Vinted balance & maximise your sales with minimum effort

A WOMAN with £900 in her Vinted balance has shared her top four tips so you can do the same.

Maisie has turned what was initially a side hustle into a full-time career, and shares her advice on her social media pages.

In a recent TikTok, she explained how to “maximise sales”, just by following four rules.

The first is to make sure you price your items correctly.

“I’ve found that this is the single biggest factor that decides whether or not an item sells on Vinted,” she said.

“If you’re not sure what price to list something for, look at similar items on Vinted that have been listed fairly recently, especially listings that have a few likes.

“Because that shows that they’re getting engagement and they’re probably listed for a fairly reasonable price.”

There’s also a rule she sticks to in order to make sure she’s setting the listing price right.

“You want to make sure that you’re listing items for 10 to 15% less than what you actually want to sell them for, because people will send you offers on Vinted no matter how fair you think the price is,” she continued.

“That way your buyers can feel like they’re getting a discount and you’re still happy with the price you’re selling it for,” she added.

The next tip is to take the time to relist items if they haven’t sold.

Not only that, but you have to take new photos so that it’s not flagged by Vinted as a repeat listing.

“It’s so worth it, every time I do this I get so many sales,” she explained.

Her third tip is an “obvious” one, but it’s down to taking the right pictures.

Maisie uses a lightbox for her pictures, but said that taking the snaps in daylight on a “clear, uncluttered background will make so much difference to your sales”.

Her fourth, final, tip is to list items regularly.

“I don’t know what it is about the Vinted algorithm, but I’ve found that if I space items out rather than posting them all in one big batch, they tend to get more views and offers,” Maisie added.

Not only that, but the “older items tend to carry on getting more engagement as well”.

Do you need to pay tax on items sold on Vinted?

QUICK facts on tax from the team at Vinted…

  • The only time that an item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is profit (sells for more than you paid for it). Even then, you can use your capital gains tax-free allowance of £3,000 to offset it.
  • Generally, only business sellers trading for profit (buying goods with the purpose of selling for more than they paid for them) might need to pay tax. Business sellers who trade for profit can use a tax-free allowance of £1,000, which has been in place since 2017.

“Before anyone comments I do pay tax on my Vinted profits!” Maisie captioned her TikTok video.

People were quick to comment on Maisie’s video, with one writing: “Always use eBay and go to their sold price – not everyone on Vinted is a reseller and price it at a random price.

“I never use Vinted to price my items coz of that reason.

“Say if someone had a high branded item they didn’t know what it was really worth and you listed it for that, to then notice later on that you could have made so much more money on it.

“For everyone out there I’d personally recommend the eBay sold price as it gives you more of an accurate price for what to list for and what the items are selling for.”

“Thanks for the tips, so helpful,” another praised.
