Traditionally, eggs are boiled in a pan, however, with air fryers soaring in popularity in recent years, the handy gadgets are now being used to make egg boiling easier.
Taking to the Air Fryer Recipes Facebook group, a public group with 435,000 followers, one egg fan revealed that after following the advice of another group member, she had cracked the code for the perfect boiled eggs.
“I can’t find the original post now but the lady who recommended soft boiled eggs for 7 minutes on air fry at 180 degrees was spot on!”, she said.
“I have had two eggs for the past four days, and every time they’re absolutely perfect.
“Life-changing if you like soft-boiled eggs and definitely not a fluke, as they were perfect each time!
“Thank you to whoever recommended this!”
Attached to the post was a picture of perfectly runny eggs, on a slide of white toast.
The post quickly garnered the attention of egg fans, wracking up 451 likes and 340 comments.
Facebook users raced to the comments section to share their thoughts, with many praising the hack.
One person said: “I always use my Airfryer for boiled eggs.
“Then I can make coffee or toast and not pot watch, for me it’s perfect.”
A second person said: “Yum! I’m definitely going to try that because I can’t boil an egg spot on at any given time!”
A third person said: “I shall try for breakfast tomorrow.”
Rise of the air fryer
Air fryers have maintained their spot as the most popular kitchen gadget in the UK last year.
Annual sales figures from Lakeland show sales of air fryers were up 1,175% on last year – when they were already soaring in popularity – as households continue their efforts to save energy on standard ovens.
The retailer said: “In previous years, their popularity could be attributed to consumers seeking healthier cooking options and fast cooking times.
“However, with the cost-of-living crisis continuing, air fryers have a renewed appeal as an efficient alternative to oven cooking.”
The only other products that “shaped the year” were heated airers – with sales up 51% – and heated textiles, such as heated throws and ponchos, Lakeland said, as households bought gadgets as an alternative to expensive dryers and central and electric heaters.
However, others pointed out that you can boil eggs quicker in a pan.
One person said: “Seems like a bit of a faff when you could just boil it… “
A second person said: “And yet they only take three minutes in a pan of water?”
A third person added: “Whenever I do them in the air fryer I have trouble peeling them because the membrane sticks to the egg.”
