Tragedy as ‘man on holiday with mum’ dies in Asda after ‘grabbing trolley & collapsing’ in front of horrified shoppers

A MAN has tragically died after suffering a medical emergency in a busy UK supermarket.

It is understood the customer suddenly collapsed while collecting a trolley at an Asda store in Paignton, Devon, on Sunday morning.

The man was believed to be on holiday with his mum when the tragedy occurred.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “We were called by the ambulance service to Asda in Paignton at around 11.20am on Sunday August 24.

“A customer, a man in his 50s, was reported to have suffered a suspected medical episode and was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
