FREE FOOD

There are several ways to bag free food through apps in September.

One great option is for O2 and Virgin Media broadband customers.

You can go through O2’s Priority app, which has two brand new food related perks.

The first is that you can claim a free “sweet treat” from Greggs, as O2 notes: “From the nation’s favourite doughnut, the Pink Jammie, to moreish muffins.”

The second O2 perk is a free 12-month Tastecard subscription.

Normally that would set you back £79.99, netting you two-for-one meals or 25% off the total bill at thousands of UK restaurants.

Tastecard says that the average saving per meal is £23. Not bad.

Another brilliant option is for Sky customers who can bag a free treat from the Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference range. We’ve already seen giveaways on ice cream and ice lollies.

You’ll find it inside the MySky app in the Sky VIP section – a free rewards scheme.

There’s a different treat each week, and it normally it turns up in the app on Wednesday – so redeem it fast, because the supply is always limited.

Amazon Prime subscribers can claim a year of Deliveroo Silver Plus (worth £3.49 a month or £41.88 annually) for free.

That gets you free delivery on loads of takeaways over £15.

To bag it, just go Amazon’s page here, click Claim Now, and then follow the steps to link your Deliveroo account.

This even works if you already have an existing Deliveroo Plus membership.

And Vodafone‘s VeryMe Rewards has two-for-one meals through Eat Local.

You get a 12-month free membership to the Gourmet Society-powered service, which also nets you 25% off food and drink at a range of restaurants.

And the rewards scheme also nets you 10% off select hotels through Trip and 30% off airport parking via Airparks.

FREE GAMES

Amazon gives away free video games every single month
Amazon

There are several ways to bag free games.

One of the simplest options is for Amazon Prime members.

Every month, Amazon will dish out free video games through it’s Prime Gaming scheme.

It’s usually a mix of PC and console games, and you get to keep them forever.

HOW MUCH DOES AMAZON PRIME COST?

Here’s a breakdown of all the pricing options…

  • Prime monthly (£8.99 monthly) – £107.88 a year
  • Prime annual – £95 a year
  • Prime Video (£5.99 monthly) – £71.88 a year
  • Prime 18-22/student (£4.49 monthly) – £53.88 a year
  • Prime 18-22/student annual – £47.49 a year
  • Prime 18-22/student monthly + 6-month free trial – £26.94 for first year
  • Prime 18-22/student annual + 6-month free trial – £23.75 for first year

So don’t miss out, because once they vanish from the monthly line-up, you can’t claim them any more.

The full lot is usually worth hundreds of pounds, so it’s worth checking every Thursday as each weekly batch of monthly games drop.

Another good option for Prime members in September is Luna.

Luna is a TV or Fire Stick app that lets you play console games without a physical machine.

You can play certain top games without a console through Amazon’s Luna if you have an active Prime membership
Amazon

Normally you’d need an Amazon Luna+ subscription for £8.99 to play, but Prime members can enjoy a rolling selection of games to play for free.

That includes Fortnite – you’ll just need a compatible TV or Fire Stick plus a game controller.

And another handy way to get discounted games is through the Humble Bundle – a digital storefront for video games.

It serves up bundles of games for heavily discounted prices.

HOW DOES AMAZON LUNA WORK?

Here’s Amazon’s official explanation…

“As the name implies, cloud gaming works by streaming games from cloud servers,” Amazon explains.

“And Luna runs on Amazon’s powerful cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services (AWS).

“AWS makes it easy to stream games without lengthy downloads or updates.

“It allows your device to run high-quality games without the need for an expensive gaming PC or console, a complicated setup, or heavy computer processing.”

You’ll get a monthly mix of games, and 5% of your monthly £11.49 membership payment goes to a featured charity.

MOVIE DISCOUNTS

First up, if you haven’t claimed your free movie from Sky yet, go do that.

It’s available to all Sky customers through Sky VIP in the MySky app.

You can bag a free movie from the Sky Store, which could be worth up to £20.

Another option for Sky Cinema subscribers is the offer to get two free Vue tickets.

You can claim a pair of tickets every month and see a film between Sunday and Thursday.

Several services also have their own discounted cinema schemes.

They include:

  • Amazon Prime – Two Odeon tickets for £10 total
  • Three+ – £3 adult tickets at Cineworld
  • O2 Priority – Two Vue tickets for £9 or four for £18

Be aware that these deals can change, so make sure to check your rewards app before turning up to the cinema.
