A FAMILY has been mocked for ditching a sunny paradise for a new chapter in Poland.
Wellness creator Ivonka left Costa Rica to move more than 6,300 miles away to Poland, where she now lives in capital Warsaw with her hubby and their two kids.

The brood had been enjoying the glorious sunshine and picturesque views of Costa Rica for almost half-a-decade – however, they recently decided it was time for a change.
Looking back at their time in the rainforest-abundant country, Ivonka said Costa Rica gave them ”so much”.
The family built their home ”in the jungle”, enjoyed ”endless sunsets” on the beach, explored waterfalls, beach walks and so much more.
From ”learning to surf” to devouring ”’fresh tropical fruit”, Costa Rica have them ”countless adventures” they ”never dreamed of trying”.
”Those years shaped us as a family and will always hold a piece of our hearts,” she said in the post.
But as time went on, Ivonka and her partner felt it was time for a new chapter – and they eventually landed on a flight to Poland.
”As our kids grew, we felt called toward something new -a place full of culture, history, and fresh opportunities.
”With our strong Polish roots, this move feels like life has come full circle. Poland simply felt like the right step forward.”
Sharing wholesome snaps of their time in the sunny tourist hotspot, Ivonka said: ”Here’s to the next chapter – Costa Rica to Poland.
”Grateful to have you along for the ride and can’t wait to share more from this journey.”
But while Warsaw offers plenty of Renaissance architecture blended with modern buildings, rich history and culture, many trolls mocked the brood for the move.
One person said: ”From Costa Rica to Poland. That is the downgrade of the century bro.”
”Welp, I hope you dislike the sun,” another chuckled, referring to the cloudy and oftentimes harsh winters.
How easy is it to move abroad?
Brexit means British citizens now have to apply for visas to move to countries within the EU. While some countries residency restrictions are easier than others, here’s what you need to do at home before moving:
- Notify HMRC about your upcoming move.
- Let your local authority know and provide a forwarding address.
- Contact your mortgage and utility providers and bank before leaving.
- If you have paid enough UK national insurance contributions, you can qualify for a state pension abroad – contact the International Pension Centre.
- You can sign up to the Royal Mail’s redirection service.
- If you have outstanding student loans, contact the Student Loans Centre.
- If you have children, give due notice to childcares and schools.
”Winter will break you,” someone else warned.
But while many were baffled by the decision, hundreds of people reckoned the new chapter was ”a great move”.
One person told Ivonka, who posts under the username @juicemadamofficial,: ”I think it is a great move.
”Poland is totally underrated, it has developed massively in recent years and the economy is doing really well. Good luck.”
A foodie commented: ”My husband moved to Poland two years ago and I joined him last year.
”We absolutely love it and I can’t wait to continue this journey. We live in Toruń so not too far from Warsaw.
”It has been a great adventure so far and the food is top notch.”
A third penned: ”I’m doing something similar. I’ve been in Mexico for 8 years and I’m moving to Budapest next year.
”I’m of Hungarian heritage. I’m so excited to try all of the European foods too!”
