We’re sizes 10 & 18 and got our hands on the viral M&S spotty skirt – it’s autumn chic, flatters mum tums & hides lumps

WHEN it comes to seasonal fashion, there’s something special about Autumn.

With the weather turning, it’s time to say goodbye to sandals and strappy tops, and start thinking about September style.

M&S is ideal for Autumn staples and style
We both loved this viral buy

Transitioning from summer can be tricky.

But M&S has you covered with a stunning range of in-between wear that manages to balance practicality with style.

The For EveryBody team has been trying on some Autumn staples from the high street favourite.

And we’ve landed on a gorgeous skirt, which has now gone viral, that is as versatile as it is delicious.

For the past year, we’ve been putting the high street to the test to find the best inclusive fashion.

I’m a size 10 mum, with lumps in need of hiding, while my work bestie Katy is a curvy size 18.

While we may have different body shapes, we still have spookily similar taste when it comes to fashion and love nothing more than a “same but different” look.

Our For Everybody series has already showcased some of the best gems in Primark, River Island, Sainsbury’s and more.

As well as hunting out the most on-trend items on offer, we’ve managed to polish up on styling outfits for our very different body shapes.

And the Lyocell Rich Polka Dot Ruffle Midaxi Skirt is a perfect example of this.

I have to confess, this was not my pick – Katy was drawn like a moth to a pretty flame when she spotted the floaty, ruffled piece on the rack.

I was sceptical. I thought the gossamer layers would make me look like a huge Flamenco dancer.

But I could not have been more wrong – it fit us both like a glove, covering up our self-conscious bits.

And it looked instantly more expensive than its £46 pricetag.

I styled my true-to-fit size 10 with a tight-fitting black body and a pair of chunky heels while Katy went for a crop top and blazer.

The spotty skirt can be dressed up or down

You could easily dress the spotty starlet up for a night out with a more dressy top and handbag.

But it also works a treat dressed down for dinner with the girls.

And it’s clear we’re not the only ones loving the look as it’s already completely sold out online, so you’ll need to get into your local store to nab the popular skirt.

Why everyone loves M&S

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale revealed to Fabulous why M&S is the shop of the moment. She explained:

“M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about.

“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’ that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear.

“Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price.

“The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also.

“Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30.

“After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on.

“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.”
